Make real change.
FLIPS is where high schoolers come to grow. Receive mentorship, learn leadership skills, leave an impact, and more.
What is FLIPS?
FLIPS (Fostering Leaders, Innovators, and Pioneers in STEM) will teach you how to establish a STEM day/summer camp, targeting younger low-income students in your community.
FLIPS is a two-year program, beginning in your junior year. Each semester, we will guide you through the process, from creating proposals to understanding post-camp data. Along the way, you’ll receive mentorship from students attending top colleges (MIT, Williams, e.t.c) around the country!
Watch this video to hear about their camp-creation experience, directly from a chapter founder!
Innovate Without Limits
FLIPS has helped students nationwide reach 112+ schools, amassing 5000+ community service hours and raising nearly $55k for STEM programs.

What Students Say
“Incredibly honored working with FLIPS to bring children the opportunities to explore their passions in STEM. On the flip side, I’m having just as much fun as they are and can’t wait to continue my journey!”
“I am grateful to FLIPS for the opportunity to share my passion for STEM with others in an environment where we all grow together…[FLIPS] challenged me to expand my professional boundaries and demonstrate the future is shaped by your vision, regardless of resource constraints.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a greater joy than seeing my 3rd graders proudly wave their candy DNA helixes at me. I’m extremely grateful to have the opportunity to impact the children of my community through FLIPS!”

For Students, By Students
Founded by students, FLIPS is here to support you.
What does FLIPS do?
FLIPS teaches you how to create STEM day/summer camps for low-income students in your community. We cover a variety of topics, from lesson planning to how to hand your camp off! We meet weekly via Zoom outside of school hours. You will be mentored by college students (who previously created a camp!).
Who can join FLIPS?
Currently, FLIPS programming begins in a student’s junior year (11th grade). We strongly encourage students to speak to their teachers about FLIPS in spring of their sophomore year (10th grade).
This is our only strict requirement! As long as you have a passion for STEM and serving under resourced students, you are welcome to join!
When and where do FLIPS camps happen?
FLIPS camps typically occur at your high school. In fall of your junior year, you will host a Saturday day-camp. The summer between your junior and senior year, you will host a (typically) multi-day summer camp. After learning the foundations, we hope your school can now sustain a Saturday day-camp each semester (Fall and Spring), as well as a multi-day summer camp.
Sometimes, your school/district might allow you to host your camp at another location, which is perfectly fine!
Does FLIPS cost money?
What the FLIPS?! Heck no! FLIPS programming is 100% free, from start to finish.
We understand some costs may incur materials/facilities costs. Don’t worry! We will teach you how to fundraise. In fact, most camps end up fundraising more than they actually need!
What is the time commitment?
Our time commitment varies, depending on what stage you are at. Sometimes you’ll go weeks without having a single meeting with students at your school. Other times, you’ll be meeting afterschool everyday!
In general, we suggest that students set aside at least 4 hours/week on FLIPS.
